History

The Fernhurst Club is one of the oldest charities in Fernhurst. It  was registered at the Charity Commission on 5th September 1983 but the club has been going since the early 1900s.  It started life as the Fernhurst Working Men's Institute and that is still the legal name -  the Fernhurst Club is our working name which today, better reflects the inclusive nature of the club.

One of our main  governing documents is the conveyance of 14th February 1935 when the freehold to the building was bought by the Institute who previously had leased the building.

Present Day

We are proud that the club has kept going for nearly 100 years especially given that many working men's clubs have folded. Over the years many people have given their time and their custom to the club  and  many fun and happy hours have been spent by people there. We are hopeful that we can continue to serve our local community and that our local community will  continue to support us.

Ideas are always welcome on things to do in the future: book clubs/table games/keep fit/snooker tournaments - we are open to  any reasonable suggestions!

Members can always help out at events  or join our committee.
The Committee have produced a Revival plan for the club for the coming months and years. Please click here to view
