After he is fired from the Anti-Villain League for failing to take down the latest bad guy to threaten humanity, Gru finds himself in the midst of a major identity crisis.
But then Gru meets his long-lost, charming, cheerful and more successful twin brother Dru, who wants to team up with him in order to defeat a new enemy named Balthazar Bratt, a 1980s child actor who grows up to become a villain.
Steve Carell, Miranda Cosgrove and Dana Gaier reprise their roles of Gru, Margo and Edith from the first two films.   And from the first ‘Despicable Me’, Julie Andrews is back as Marlena, Gru’s mother.   Kristen Wiig and Steve Coogan return from ‘Despicable Me 2’  and three new voices join the cast - Trey Parker, Jenny Slate and Nev Scharrel has become the voice of Agnes.
The question is whether Gru is going to get lured back into villainy.   Come and find out.
