This is a poem about a mouse
That lived in somebody else’s house,
I’m glad it wasn’t in mine because
My cat would have it in her paws.
A dog just wouldn’t have bothered
Because dogs aren’t as smart as cats,
Some dogs, of course, are trained
To catch those wretched mice and rats.
It could have been worse,
It could have been a rhino,
But just imagine the mess
If it pooped upon the lino.
A camel would be rather grand
But difficult to understand,
We’d have problems with its diction
Because it only speaks Egyptian.
Perhaps the best would be a horse,
But there’s not the slightest doubt of course
It wouldn’t fit into the house,
I think I’ll stick with a little mouse.
