Jessica Southey was chosen as May Queen 2011 with the others who stood with her becoming attendants and being involved in the Revels in various ways.
We were delighted that we had 7 entries for 2011 May Queen - mainly from Fernhurst Primary School, and all aged 10 or 11, they were Jessica Southey, Rose Buchanan, Kerry Edwards, Eleanor Kettle, Grace Marston, Tabitha Weir and Kizzie Smith.
In previous years most have been taking part as flower scatterers, garland bearers or may pole dancers . It is lovely seeing them still enjoying the day and being even more involved.
The crowning of our May Queen took place on Sunday 15 May at approx 1pm at Fernhurst Recreation Ground after the procession arrives from Nappers Wood. Last year's queen, Ellen Hayward, will crown Jessica, who will then declare the Revels open and the fun will begin. Click below for photographs of the day.
